Oct 26, Thanks folks, glad to help. As promised, here is a rundown on these guitars based on the information I received when dealing with Gibson and the retailer which originally ordered these for the Canadian market. Hopefully this will help to clear up some of the confusion surrounding these models. The original run of these was Honeyburst models that were made for a retailer here in Canada. The majority of these have serial numbers but some, my own included, have serial numbers because they began production of these models in December of There is no indication yet of how many of these colours are being made but it is safe to assume that the quantities will be limited, as were the Honeybursts.
In addition to the Canadian ones, these guitars are also available in Europe. These guitars are very similar to the Standard fadeds, which were available until approximately and which sold heavily in Europe and the US, but these are not Standard fadeds.

I hear the Standards come with Burstbucker Pro’s now. If everything about the Classic was to mimic the 50’s then it would have a much fatter neck too since the 60’s style necks were slim but I’m not positive on that. I haven’t seen any newer Classics but they did do a Standard or something like that that might have replaced it.
I’ve been trying to get my hands on a Standard for a long time but any Gibson Les Paul is worthy of my vote The “Classic” was a pysdo reissue when it first came out in It was aimed at competing with the SuperStrat’s of the time as they were king , hence, the ceramic pickups t, not 57’s and the first time slim tapered neck for shredding.
